Karen, it was a sad day today as the city quickly cut down the landmark Oak located at the intersection of Triunfo and Westlake Blvd.
Mind you , this tree has been standing for over 300 years and it had to come down without any public imput.
A group of angry homeowners that inundated the city will calls to stop or delay the process showed up to no avail. The tree my brothers and sisters stood under to wait for my dad to return home from work is gone without notice!

I always enjoy running across articles about Hidden Valley as my family moved to Hidden Valley in 1951 from Missouri. My father worked for the McMahans and the Stabers and my mother worked for the Stabers and the Brennans. I lived in the valley for about 21 years before I got married and then another 20 years in Newbury Park. In 2001 I went back to Newbury Park to sell our house and took a drive with my mother around Lake Sherwood, through Hidden Valley, and almost got lost once I left the valley. Boy, has it changed. Thanks for the article.
